Saquon Barkley Wants to Run It Back: “I’m Just Getting Started in Philly”

After a monster first season with the Philadelphia Eagles that ended in a Super Bowl victory, Saquon Barkley is more motivated than ever to do it again.

Barkley shocked the football world last year when he left the struggling New York Giants and joined an already stacked Eagles offense. Many questioned whether he’d be able to adjust to a new system or share the spotlight—but Saquon answered those doubts with a dominant season, proving he’s still one of the most dangerous backs in the NFL.

Now, heading into his second season in Philly, Barkley says he’s not just trying to keep the momentum going—he’s aiming to elevate it.

“Last year was special, no doubt. But I feel like I left meat on the bone,” Barkley said during training camp. “I want more. I expect more.”

Super Bowl Season Was Only the Beginning

Saquon Barkley had a historic season last year, rushing for over 2,000 yards and racking up the most yards from scrimmage in a single season—including playoffs—in NFL history. With explosive speed, power, and vision, he dominated defenses week after week and was the driving force behind the Eagles’ Super Bowl run.

“In New York, everything was on me. Here, I’ve got dogs everywhere—receivers, a real offensive line, a quarterback who keeps defenses honest,” Barkley explained. “I was able to just be me. That’s when I’m most dangerous.”

Locked In for Year Two

Now that he’s comfortable in the system, building even stronger chemistry with Jalen Hurts, and working behind arguably the best O-line in football, Barkley looks faster, leaner, and more focused than ever.

Coaches and teammates have noted how dialed in he is at camp. While others are celebrating last season’s title, Barkley is treating this year like he’s still chasing his first ring.

“I didn’t come here for one,” he said. “I came here to win every year. That’s the standard now.”

The NFC Is on Notice

With Barkley healthy, motivated, and surrounded by elite talent, the Eagles look poised for another deep postseason run. And if Saquon’s mindset is any clue, defenses across the league better be ready for more of the same—and then some.
